Affinity texting

Given the limited resources that state and local parties have, it’s difficult to build personal relationships with key stakeholders. Affinity texting makes it efficient to form 1:1 texting relationships between staff/leadership and key stakeholders from their own personal phone number

• Follow up with donors
  • He, this is [staff member name].  Following up on our call last week.  Thanks for your support.  Let me know if you would prefer to mail in a check or here is a [donation link].  
• Initiate relationship between staff and stakeholder
  • Hi, this is [staff member name]. I am the [title] for the [location] party. Just wanted to reach out and say hello. This is my cell number; you can text or call me anytime. 
• Invite stakeholders to events
  • Hi, this is [staff member name]. We are having a [event name] on [date/time] at [location]. Hope you can make it!
• Thank you messages

• Scheduling calls

Relational organizing

Make it easy for volunteers to find and encourage their friends to support the campaign. This is especially effective for volunteers that are not willing to knock on doors or make phone calls.

• ID Efforts
• Utilize surveys to enable supporters to quickly ID their friends
• Load in a target list/voter file
• Create a Survey Action with voter file matching enabled
• Create a custom survey or link to existing surveys in NGPVAN
• Enable supporters to ask friends if they support a candidate or campaign
• When they log in, there will be a sample message they can use
• Persuasion efforts
• Persuasion conversations can be difficult, however, it is very natural to ask friends to learn more by attending an event. Doing so will help persuade voters organically. 
• Load in a target list/voter file
• Create an Email/text friends Action with voter file matching enabled
• Ask supporters to invite all of their friends that live in the district to attend upcoming events
• When they log in, there will be a sample message they can use to invite their friends
• GOTV - Based on published research, we are seeing 5% turnout bumps at the top of the ticket and 10-20% for down ballot races 
• Create an Email/Text Friends action with voter file matching enabled
• Ask supporters to remind their friends in the district to vote

Supporter action hub

Leverage the supporter action hub to recruit, engage and activate your supporter base. 

• Recruit and onboard supporters at events
• Use flyers or the Recruit option in the supporter platform to quickly onboard supporters
• Recruit supporters at rallies, meet and greets, fundraising or community events
• Social sharing
• Ask supporters to share campaign updates
• Create organic (and free) social media campaigns across the district
• Provide regular updates
• Create Supporter Update actions to keep supporters informed
• Provide talking points to effectively spread the campaign’s message
